LEGATORIUM
LEGATORIUM is an international online educational platform and professional community for students and faculty of law schools in BRICS+, SCO+, EAEU, and CIS countries, created to advance comparative law and foster sustainable academic dialogue between national legal schools.

The project aims to build a unified, accessible, and systematized knowledge space about the legal systems of various states — presented directly by the bearers of their respective legal traditions: students and faculty of national law schools.

Research on Project Need
LEGATORIUM is being created in response to a demand from students and young researchers for closer international engagement.
Before building the platform, we began collecting opinions from students, faculty, and young professionals on the need for international exchange of legal knowledge.

Our research on the necessity of creating a unified international platform for knowledge and experience exchange between law students from different countries will help us ensure the project genuinely meets the needs of the academic community.

We would greatly appreciate your participation in a short survey. The results will help determine priority areas for the project's development and will be used in shaping the platform's educational program.

The Project in Brief
  • WHAT WILL BE HERE?
    Short, clear video lectures (10–20 minutes) on key topics of national law from various countries.
  • WHO CREATES THE CONTENT?
    Law students and young faculty from these countries. The "students for students" format ensures accessibility, while mandatory oversight by university faculty (academic moderators) guarantees accuracy and quality.
  • WHO IS THIS FOR?
    Primarily for students and faculty of law schools in Russia and partner countries (BRICS+, SCO+, EAEU, CIS). The platform will also be valuable for practicing lawyers working in international contexts.
How Can You Join the Project?
We welcome everyone who wishes to become part of our global educational initiative.

To understand the commitment involved, please review the main participation criteria, the platform's workflow, and technical details below.
TO ENSURE CONTENT IS USEFUL AND EASY TO FIND, WE HAVE DEVELOPED CLEAR RULES
  • Onboarding of universities.
    Partner universities connect to the platform and gain access. Student registration is handled through participating universities.
  • Creation of educational content.
    Students record video lectures on their country's national law and on specific topics in comparative law.
  • Review system.
    No lecture is published on the platform without review by an approved faculty member (academic moderator) from the participating university.
  • Convenient search.
    Lectures will be organized by country, topic (e.g., "Constitutional Structure," "Consumer Protection," "Criminal Procedure"), and difficulty level. Each lecture will include a brief summary and timecodes for quick navigation.
  • Multilingualism.
    All materials will be in the lecturer's native language with mandatory English subtitles.
ALL LECTURES ON THE PLATFORM ARE STRUCTURED BY THE FOLLOWING KEY PARAMETERS:

  1. Country and jurisdiction
  2. Topic and legal institution
  3. Mandatory topic block
  4. Difficulty level
  5. Association with a course or thematic track
  6. Links to other lectures (for comparative analysis purposes — achievable in the medium term)
EACH LECTURE IS ACCOMPANIED BY AN EXTENDED CARD INCLUDING:

  1. Brief summary
  2. Timecodes by topic
  3. Links to sources used
UNIFIED MANDATORY LECTURE STRUCTURE:

  1. Introduction of the lecturer (name, country, status)
  2. Topic title and brief lecture outline
  3. Historical context, if necessary
  4. Regulatory framework and sources of law
  5. Description of the formal functioning of the legal institution
  6. Description of practical application and deviations from formal rules
  7. Illustrative example
  8. Comparative block with the law of other states
  9. List of sources used with active links
  10. A discussion question, if desired
MANDATORY THEMATIC BLOCKS

To ensure comparability of legal systems, a list of mandatory topics is introduced, for which each country provides lecture content:

  1. General characteristics of the legal system and legal family
  2. Sources of law and hierarchy of normative acts
  3. Characteristics of the state
  4. System of state authorities
  5. Judicial system and access to justice
  6. Human rights and mechanisms for their protection
MANDATORY QUALITY CRITERIA FOR LECTURES
All lectures published on the platform must meet established academic criteria:

Structure
Clear narrative structure must be followed
Evidence Base
Verified sources with mandatory citations
Multilingualism
Bilingual format (original + subtitles)
Timecodes
Timecodes and brief written summary required
USER STATUSES
To ensure stable content organization and quality control, the platform provides the following main roles:
  • User
    (Пользователь)
    A student or faculty member with access to view lectures and interact with content.
  • Junior Lecturer
    (Лектор-стажёр)
    A user who has applied for the right to create lectures and been granted this status upon approval.
  • Academic Moderator (University)
    (Академический модератор
    от ВУЗа)
    A senior lecturer who verifies qualifications and reviews/moderates lectures created by trainee lecturers.
  • Advisory Board
    (Академический куратор)
    A representative of a university or expert community responsible for setting quality standards, mandatory topics, and platform rules.
LECTURE SUBMISSION AND MODERATION PROCEDURE
Lecture submitted to the moderation system
Reviewer assigned by profile and qualification
Academic review against established criteria
Decision made (approved, sent for revision, or rejected with reasons)
Lecture published with lecturer and moderator credited
Feedback generated for further quality improvement
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS
  • Format
    — horizontal video 16:9;
    — minimum Full HD (4K preferred);
    — .mp4
  • Duration
    — 10–20 minutes;
    — split into parts if necessary
  • Goal
    — dynamic and visually structured video
  • Core Requirements
    — clear speech and quality audio;
    — graphics, subtitles, and speech in sync;
    — pauses, stumbles, and repetitions removed;
    — use of subheadings, diagrams, theses, and footnotes referencing acts, laws, and sources
  • Visuals
    — bullet points with step-by-step reveal;
    — use diagrams, charts, zoom-in, B-roll;
    — static shot of lecturer no more than 3 minutes continuously
  • Structure
    — intro up to 10 sec (logos, topic, name, simple animation);
    — introduction up to 1.5 min (goal, brief overview, mind-map);
    — main section up to 16 min with dynamic inserts, graphics, and visual accents
  • Audio
    — speech volume normalized;
    — neutral background music permitted;
    — short SFX for animations without covering the lecturer's voice

WHY DO WE NEED SUPPORT?
Today, the LEGATORIUM team is working to build the first international library of short legal lectures on the national law of various states.
